For only $100, you can get the Samsung ML 6050 printer. It is intended to replace the more expensive inkjet devices. Ever since it was released, it has dominated the price conscious market. Although it is considered an entry-level printer, it has a performance level and print quality from the ML 6050 toners that rivals its more expensive counterparts.
It can deliver 12 pages in a minute, which makes it one of the fastest among other entry-level devices. The 550 sheet paper tray on this device makes it one to be reckoned with. This is five times the normal size of any printer in its class.
It is powered by a 67 MHz processor and 4 MB of RAM. The memory size is a little disappointing since it bottlenecks the device. The print quality of the text and graphics were sharp and clear. However, we were not able to use its 1,200 dpi setting. The printer refused to work under that resolution. When we scaled back to 600 dpi, the problem was fixed. Even at that resolution, the graphic prints were still good enough for the average user. Since this is a monochrome laser printer, it cannot depict color that well. This means if you try printing a photo the result might be a little disappointing.
The ML 6050 is also very reasonable when it comes to printing cost. It is packaged with a 3,000 page yield Samsung 6050 ink and toner. You can also purchase a $100 toner cartridge that can print 3,000 pages. This means each page is around 3.3 cents. However, you can take advantage of Toner Save when you are printing text. This would give prints that cost as low as 1.65 cents, however, you will notice some loss of contrast.
As for its connectivity, you can connect it through the USB or parallel ports. Having the option as to which port to use is a big plus; this is especially helpful for people who use a laptop, since they have a limited number of USB slots. Unfortunately, this model does have an Ethernet port. However, you can get its twin, the ML 6060, which has 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port for networking. The only difference between the two is the price and the Ethernet port.
Power consumption is about the same with other laser printers. It uses around 300 watts when in printing. When it is on standby, it consumes 30 watts. The machine also complies with the EPA Energy Star Standard.

In summary, the print quality and high capacity paper tray are the two main selling points of the Samsung ML 6050 printer.
