Best way to drill holes in porcelain cups?
I recently bought 4 porcelain cups at a second-hand store in the hopes of turning them into small planters for some flowers. The diameter at the top of the cups is 3 inches and they gradually taper into a 2 1/4 inch bottom. The height of the cups is 4 inches and the cups are about 3/16 of an inch thick. I would like to put at least one drainage in each cup but I’m unsure how to do this without causing the cups to splinter. Any help is greatly appreciated:)
I meant to say one drainage hole, in case that causes any confusion.
The first answer was correct, but to elaborate you want to look for a drill bit specifically designed for tile. It’s a pointed carbide bit but will literally cut through it like soft wood. You could use a standard carbide bit but they are much less affective and much more likely to cause the material to break due to having to put more pressure on it to get it to cut through. The tile bit will go right through it with almost no effort.
