It has everything, dishing up exotic cuisine, lively entertainment, outstanding scenery and a rich history. Visitors will certainly not be short on things to do on holidays to Turkey:
Sightseeing
Turkey boasts plenty of ancient sites spread out across the country that are worthy of exploration. The Acropolis and Asclepion of Pergamum, the site of the legendary city of Troy, and the city of Ephesus are just a few examples. Or, for some modern history, the battleground at Gallipoli offers a sobering reminder of the first World War. Hotels will be able to advise on multi-site day trips and tours.
Activities
Thrill seekers need not be idle on Turkey holidays as there are plenty of sports and adventure activities on offer. You can explore the ocean while cave diving or raft along the Koprucay River through the country’s stunning National Park. Or, for a wildly different perspective on Turkey’s landscape, visitors might try their hand at hot air ballooning or even paragliding. The stunning Cappadocia Valley, with its incredible views of intriguing chimney rock formations is recommended for airborne adventure.
Relaxation
The Ottoman Sultans were famous for their excessive lifestyles and firm belief that bathing was essential for good health. Today, visitors too can play the Sultan and take a Turkish bath at one of the many luxurious spas, which are often attached to hotels.
Shopping
Turkey’s Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar in Istanbul are recommended for those wanting to bag themselves some authentic Turkish delicacies. Meanwhile, a more modern shopping experience can be found at the city’s huge Cevahir Mall.
Food and Drink
Holidays to Turkey can be hard work with all that sightseeing and shopping, so always take the chance to stop at the local tea house and partake of the local treats. Perhaps follow this up with a night of Turkish food and folk and belly dancing at a lively local restaurant.
