Old Hanging
does anyone know about old hanging wine decanters?
i have an old german/austrian hanging wine decantor. there is a label on the bottom with the word REAL impossed over the symbol for male, company name i assume. it also says artikel-nr. and then a #. does anyone have any thoughts on the worth or any info on this piece? thanks for your help.
I ran a search of hanging wine decanters and found them priced from under USD$20 to over USD$300 for some beautiful Austrian crystal decanters with wrought iron racks.
I could not find the manufacturer/craftsman mark you identified.
The problem with European fine quality household items [my wife had to get rid of 2 complete households] is that the market in the USA for these items is often non-existent because nobody is familiar with the craftsman or the object itself.
This is an “Antiques Road Show” item. Take a number of good digital photos, a few with a ruler or yard stick evident to show dimensions, and locate someone whose business it is to appraise European objects.
Because these people charge for their services, I hesitate to include any references in this response. There is one man from Philadelphia who charges USD$35 – good luck to you.
