How can I fine out what chinese or maybe japanese symbols mean?
Found a lovely framed and matted piece of art today. The seller did not remember what the symbols meant and said she threw away the paper that said what they were. It’s really lovely but I’d like to know what it means.
WELL I can speak japanese pretty fluently and if you send me a clear enough pic i can tell you what it means!!
Most Japanese art has writing on it BEACAUSE Japanese writing and kanji symbols are they’re own form of art in the Japanese culture. So the symbol will mean something not only by what kanji symbol is used but as well as the object its written on.
You can use a japanese dictionary like this one:

But there is a certain way to use it, by going to the search box, opening the radical chart by pressing “open panel” and clicking on symbols that are in the single kanji symbols. But this is pretty hard to do if you don’t already have a good understanding of the language.
