How can I remove glue from wood?
I have several wood tea boxes (probably lacquered or stained) that have a sticky residue from the glue (rubber cement type) that held them in a matching tray. I want to get the “stickem” off of the wood without ruining it.
Try odorless paint thinner first on the glue. That stuff won’t attack the lacquer. Not saying it will get the glue off either, but it is the first chemical cleaner I would try. “Goof off ” might work too.. I could suggest lacquer thinner, but as its name infers it will attack lacquer.(so you have to apply it with almost a dry rag)idea
Always, with all these chemicals, put some on a rag and use your pointer finger in the rag,, the chemicals are not that harmful to the skin.(sort of like gasoline). So you can touch it. And use the pointer finger with a thin layer of cloth over it that is moist in the solution and rub the surface and see what happens.
