Japanese Daikoku

Japanese Daikoku
japanese meaning of ‘dai’ and ‘gamedai’?

I overheard in an anime a character using the word ‘gamedai’ (sp?) and I was wondering what it meant.

Also just for curiousity sake what does ‘dai’ mean? I heard that it relates to school or college and I think daikoku means university but I am not sure.

Can someone help shed some light on this?

Thanks!

Hi!
I’m not sure about “gamedai” (???)
As for “dai”: that depends on how it is written. In some cases it means “university” (for example – TOKYO UNIVERSITY is TODAI), also it means “very much” (to like – SUKI, to like very much – DAISUKI, to hate – KIRAI, hate very much – DAIKIRAI).

(University is DAIGAKU)
