Where does a Foo Dog come from?
Foo Dogs, or Fu Dogs, are Chinese guardian lions. Their statues are used to flank entryways and protect those inside from harm. Fu Dogs are male and female. Female Fu Dogs typically are represented with a “cub” under their right paw, and they are placed on the right side of the doorway as you enter. Male Fu Dogs are represented with a “globe” under their left paw, and they are placed on the left side of the doorway as you enter.
I have two of them myself and have had them for several years. I think they are beautiful, and it couldn’t hurt if they provide protection too!
