Other folk art! Folk art is a tradition. Artists working in tradition always know great works that have preceded them in that tradition, and then build upon those previous great works, adding some points and elements of newness, while also retaining elements of what made earlier works great. I would say that looking at existing folk art that YOU love and adore, and that other people also love and adore, is the greatest inspiration that there is. In a similar vein there is this quote from Sir Isaac Newton: “If I can see further than anyone else, it is only because I am standing on the shoulders of giants”.
