The Importance of Planning Your Beading Design

We have heard time and again that planning is an important part of any activity.  Without it, the activity that we had in mind would not go as smoothly and most regularly it might end up being futile. Planning and designing your own jewelry can be terribly rewarding and it is vital to do it right to ensure that you like your pastime or business.

The same is true when creating patterns for your beadwork.  It is crucial that you take a little time to take a seat and truly visualize how you would like your finish product to look.  What’s your idea?  What color or beads would go well with this design?  Once you have had all of these down pat, you can start to work on your beadwork. 

You will find it hard infrequently to come up with a new design every now and then.  But this is essentially made less complicated if you are aware of all of the different types of basic beading patterns. Finding jewelry making patterns is as simple as doing a search on the internet, there are lots of free patterns to select from. An important step is learning the stitches that are open to you and how it’s possible for you to use them individually and even in mix with each other.  The mixture of these stitches would be what you call a pattern. 

You can select your patterns depending on your ability level.  If you are just beginning to study beading, your only option would probably be the flat peyote stitch.  Master this kind of stitch and you may certainly find it easy to learn all of the others.  Some other stitches that are commonly utilized in beadwork patterns are the brick stitch and the flat square stitch.  Starting may seem tricky and you would have to truly keep your eye to make sure your stitches look right but in due time and with enough practice it’ll ultimately come naturally to you. 

Clueless as to how to finish off your pattern design?  Adding a fringe to your pattern design would be best to consider.  They seem to be a good way to end off your patterns because it adds that extra flourish in your design.  The most typical fringes that are out there are the straightforward looped fringe and plain knotted fringe amongst others.  Aside from a fringe, you may choose a rope such as the peyote stitch twine or the platted cord. 

When selecting the stitch, fringe, or cord to be used in your pattern, don’t forget to consider which type of beadwork you will be making.  Are you making a necklace, a key ring, a bracelet, or a wine ring or doing your fimo bead making?  Knowing this previously will help you select a more acceptable style.  You may also choose to make beaded ornaments for the imminent holidays or you can center them on other special occasions such as marriages, birthdays, etc .
