Christies Auction

How much did Capt Picard’s Ressikan flute sell for at the Christie’s auction on Oct 5, 2006?
Christie’s auctioned off the flute prop used by Capt Picard in the Star Trek episode “The Inner Light”. How much did it sell for? The pre-auction estimate was about $1000 but I think it went for much more.
The flute sold for a bid of $40,000 on October 6, 2006. I beleive the “discrepency” between the $40k and $48k numbers is due to the fact that some are reporting the final “bid” amount only, which excludes the “buyer’s premium” and other fees, while others are reporting the actual total the buyer ended up paying “out the door” (bid + fees). I learned how this works as I actually was a bidder on the flute! Christies told me the flute sold for $40k on the phone when I checked. Additionally, I personally saw that the large Enterprise model sold for a final bid of $500k, but the papers were saying it sold for $576k, for the same reason. It’s correct to say that the flute sold for $40k. The fees are considered an “expense” of the purchase.
