Is spreading the word of Buddha a part of Buddhist teachings?
So for example with Muslims it is part of their religion to tell the whole world about Islam and try to convert people, same with Christianity.
But what about Buddhism? So will you find Buddhists on the streets preaching about their religion and trying to convert people?
Yes and no.
As mentioned above, Buddhists believe that the Buddhist teachings can help people on their path to end suffering. So if one can help others by teaching them the wisdom of Buddhism, that is great.
At the same time however, the attitude is not to shove it down people’s throats like some other religions seem to think is right. Basically, it is said that one should only teach Buddhism when asked. This is why you normally don’t find preaching Buddhsts on the streets.
