Vessel Sinks Offer Distinctive Style in A Bath
Vessel sinks, or above counter sinks are another distinctive choice that can be selected when doing a bathroom renovation.
Vessel sinks come in a wide diversity of materials. Porcelain sinks are a material we have had long experience with, and is easy to maintain. There are quite a number of these sinks in the standard porcelain, featuring round, square, and more distinctive shapes.
An above counter sink offers a lot of other material choices for what it is made of. More earthy styles such as copper or wood are suitable for a more masculine decor. Copper, stainless, or bronze are other likely choices. In some cases a second metal us used for the inlay of detail. Wood is another natural material used as in the de la frontera mesquite vessel sink, which has a very unique style.
Marble and glass lend themselves to more feminine or delicate design. Marble, being a natural element dictates it’s own pattern, but coloration is still a choice of the shopper.
Glass vessel sinks bring almost endless possibilities in design, color and shape. Many are geometric shapes enhanced, layered or embossed, as well as more artistic creations. These unique artsy items are often one of a kind, artists creations, and expensive.
For us mere mortals however, there are so many distinctive styles, patterns and shapes so that we will surely find a glass vessel that suits our preference.
A rainbow of colors in glass, and a wide array of different patterns either natural or artistic. DeNova Caribella Koi pond features a koi fish design over a deep natural background. The DreamLine DLG005 vessel sink is another all-over pattern, but with a more sophisticated feel.
Above counter sinks are probably not wel suited in a bath designed with small children in mind. Since the vessel is affixed to the top of the counter it is higher than a standard sink. If children are older and have more height this may not even factor in.
The faucet also warrants some thought. A very few vessels will have the faucet affixed to the sink itself. The norm, in most installations, is for the faucet to be placed on the countertop or in the wall.
Most folks bypass wall installation since they require opening the wall, and more repair and clean-up.
Usually the faucet is installed into the counter top, and there are longer neck vessel fillers designed to accomodate the extra reach needed with a vessel.
Making your selection of style and finish of a vessel filler will add further uniqueness in the decor of your newly renovated bath.
