Yunfeng Mountain, a scenic delight
The Scenic Area of Yunfeng Mountain is located in proximity to the Chinese capital Beijing on the northern bank of the Miyun Reservoir. It is in the environs of two major landmarks; Yunmengshan National Forest Park on its west and Simatai Great Wall on the east. Throughout the year the area is blessed with an agreeable climate. It is particularly attractive to visitors both local and foreign in the summer months when the weather is mild and cool. The mountain is well known for its prominent peak which protrudes steeply towards the sky. Almost throughout the year the mountain is covered by the foliage of trees and lush vegetation.
Another notable feature at this captivating site is the multitude of stones in many unusual shapes. The visitor who ascends to the summit of the mount will be able to enjoy panoramic views over the gleaming Miyun Reservoir.
Several noteworthy attractions are to be found in the vicinity including a number of Moya stone inscriptions, the Chaosheng Temple and Chaoyang Cave. The Moya stone inscriptions are considered to be the largest and oldest in the environs of Beijing, with characters etched on the rock formations. The twelve striking groups of characters inscribed on the rocks are of great interest to calligraphers as well as tourists with the metre-tall inscriptions exceptionally well preserved through the ages.
The ancient Chaosheng Temple was constructed during the reign of the Sui and Tang dynasties and is of great historical value. Nestled within verdant forest the site is a tranquil and picturesque spot making a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of nearby Beijing.
Not to be missed is the granite cave in the environs which is known as Chaoyang Cave. The seven metre high, six metre wide and twelve metre deep cavern houses in its centre a statue of the Bodhisattva Kwan-yin, flanked by smaller figures of fairies. According to Chinese culture Kwan-yin bestows infinite mercy enabling people to obtain salvation from the pain and suffering of this world. After experiencing these attractions no visitor to Yunfeng Mountain leaves disappointed.
The visitor who seeks serviced apartments Beijing will be delighted with the Somerset Grand Fortune Garden. This fine service apartment in Beijing offers all the necessary amenities required by the modern traveller.
