India Art Festival – A rare opportunity for collectors to view and acquire Modern and Contemporary Art

By Rajendra

Over the last decade, Indian Art has reached a point where it commands exceptional value appreciation and critical acclaim, making its presence felt in the corridors of global aesthetics, thanks to initiatives taken by leading Indian art scholars, curators, art galleries, artists, art publications, auction houses and a few art forums that have helped introducing much needed buoyancy in the art field. Art events are taking place in all over India, but no mega events has happened in the financial capital of India-Mumbai which will provide common platform for art galleries, artists, art writer and art historians.

India Art Festival is one such forum that aims to provide a cultural bridge between Indian artists and art galleries, art collectors and connoisseurs. Its objective is also to generate a dialogue, and create a new set of art collectors from among entrepreneurs, business executives and managers, who wish to increase their knowledge of the art world and passion investment.

In November 2011, India Art Festival is hosting its inaugural art fair at Nehru Centre, spanning over two floors in a large area of 26,000 square feet, with 116 stalls by various galleries and individual artists. The stalls would display artworks, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photographs and editions as well as video and digital art by over 400 artists represented by various galleries.

India Art Festival, a celebration for thousands of artists and hundreds of galleries, will unveil its first edition of the modern and contemporary art fair on November 17, 2011 with exciting exhibition programs and crossover events featuring fusion shows with art and music, lectures and interactive sessions between artists and art critics, artists’ presentations, street performance and art walks. There will also be poetry recitation and film screenings.

The India Art Festival venue, Nehru Centre (Worli), located centrally in Mumbai, is just a 20-minute drive each from south Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda Art District and the business hub of Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) at Bandra and the domestic airport.

India Art Festval provides a rare opportunity for collectors to view and acquire artworks after detailed interaction with galleries, artists and art critics.

Acoustic Soul

India Arie’s Acoustic Soul is just as advertised: grooving soul music with an acoustic bent. Arie herself plays guitar, supplemented by strings (instead of synthesizers) and drums (instead of drum machines).
